Hey Everybody,
I'm sitting in a nice and cozy Best Western in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania. I know it doesn't sound like we got that far but PA is a HUGE state! We drove about 8 hours today from Stonington, CT to DuBois, PA. Most of the drive was on Route 80. It's actually a really pretty state despite what everyone says about the drive.
It's funny because when I packed up and left New York it was raining and when we left today it was raining. I have a huge bag on the top of my car that is strapped on through the inside of it. Despite all of the rain we drove through, it only started leaking through my car when we finally stopped and parked. Figures...
So here are some pictures of the drive. About halfway into our trip a truck kicked up a rock and made a dent in the windshield (again, it only figures). So the first picture is of that dent, if you can see it.
It wasn't the nicest day to be driving but maybe the best day for our longer part of this trip. We're going to try to breeze right through everything. We're going to make our first major stop in Minneapolis. My mom has a friend who lives there. Then we'll go to South Dakota and Wyoming and spend most of our time there.
I haven't become too nervous or anxious yet. I know I will but it's great to have my mom with me. We listened to some country music and then switched over to listening to Dane Cook stand-up and laughed our asses off. It's a great way to stay entertained and awake....hell, maybe those books on tape won't be such a bad thing after all.
I'm not sure how far we'll get tomorrow. Until then!
