Flatlands...hahah
Some crazy house by the Dunes in Indiana....helloooo hippies!
Momma's additions: I still love the Tappan Zee Bridge; wish New Jersey just wasn't there; Pa. is beautiful through the Delaware Water Gap and Chesapeake Watershed National Park and the farms are charming but it's a wide state and Dubois, inspite of great beds at the Best Western, is a sad place among many here ; Ohio is bo-o-o-oring and Indiana is marginally more interesting with a promising Dunes walk tomorrow. Best Western beds are not all the same, old mill towns are. Love diners for breakfast. Tori Spelling...multiple chapters, 5 cds...really? George Carlin's cd tomorrow and a more relaxed day, maybe a manicure and a movie if it's raining again.
Hey Hey!
My mom and I are sitting at yet another Best Western, which we have become very fond of..... we are now on a rewards program! Our beds last night were possibly (dare I say it) more comfortable than my beloved Cal-King (RIP, my friend). Mom and I gained some major mileage today. We are currently in Merrellville (I love Merrells), Indiana. We are close to the Indiana Dunes Lakeshore and plan on going for a walk tomorrow along Lake Michigan.
There wasn't too much to see today. Ohio and Indiana are DAMN flat states! There were lots of old and still running farmhouses which were really cool to see. It felt a little silly driving along in the Prius next to a bunch of Mack-trucks. There is a major truck stop chain called "LOVES" and we were planning on stopping there but we never saw another one after a certain amount of time.
Oh I forgot to mention our stay in Dubois, Pennsylvania! Well, it's not much of a town. It must have been a cute town back in the day but is more of a rundown industrial town. Mom and I got up early (well, I could've slept until 12pm) and walked around the town. For whatever god-aweful reason there was a very very steep hill in the middle of this town and we (again, not really me) decided to walk up it and take a picture at the top. Not the most impressive thing in the world but it was a mini-achievement.
Then we decided to go out for breakfast and start our day right. We went to this diner that is so misplaced and so cool. It was a auto-garage turned diner that was all decked out in 50's style decor. Of course we picked the booth with the picture of Elvis at the top. It even had it's own personal jute-box just like Bedford diner used to have! No Rae, I did not get my typical meal. I had Eggs Benedict and it was delicious. And of course there was a sign that said "Motorcycle Parking Only" and I parked right there....so HA!!!!
Well, I'm going to get in my pajamas and relax for a bit. We are now 1 hour behind, which is kind of sweet.
Hope everyone's doing well. I know a lot of people have been calling me and I haven't answered or called back, but it's literally driving, listening to music or books on tape, and then finding a place to eat or sleep. Speaking of books on tape, we listened to Tori Spelling's autobiography, written and recorded by Mrs. Spelling herself.... which was recommended by a coworker who thought I would get a kick out of it and said she had a newfound appreciation for Tori...... well I hated her as Donna and I think it's crap that she thinks that her life is that important already that she not only needs to have a show about her life but she also needs to write a book about it? What the hell?
Consider this my book, people...... any buyers?
Love and be well!
